Now that the summer is here, get out there and have fun with your family! Walk, bike, swim, play tennis, volleyball... just be active. All of that great winter conditioning work you did with TAB can now be applied to fun summer activities!

Barbecues, amusement parks, picnics, the local pub, patio and wedding season all have tempting delicious treats that we will indulge in over the summer. And why not! Enjoy a celebration as it's intended. Life's too short to miss those little treats; but how you include these treats over the summer is very important. Most importantly remember alcoholic and caffeinated beverages are being poured liberally on that patio in the summer. The caloric intake of some of these can be high and may add extra salt or sugar you just don't need. We rarely think about what we are drinking that may add to weight gain over the summer.

But don’t lose everything you have been working towards physically and mentally over the next few months. Be creative with how to maintain balance. If you're eating clean most of the time, go for it.

Summer is also the best time to indulge in other nutrient dense treats: seasonal local vegetables and fruits, and so many light and satisfying meals.

Lastly, get some rest. The best part about vacation is resetting the overtaxed inner clock. Catching up on some sleep will allow your body to reenergize and repair. The 20 minute cat nap is always a great idea and quite accessible in the summer. Go out and enjoy!

Why do LegXurious?
This class focusses on creating shapely and more efficient legs. The exercises challenge your sense of balance and bring awareness to the abdominal wall’s role in this stability. All of this in just a half hour!

Lunge with developé
This exercise combines the strengthening of a lunge with the lengthening of a developé. A developé is a developing movement that involves a lengthening of the leg in the air.

Watch this video for an exercise to tone your legs this summer!

IN FOCUS

Strawberry Banana Ice “Cream”
I have been lactose intolerant since I was 5 years old.
I can so clearly remember my mom making me this ice cream.
It is thick, creamy and so easy!! Your love for THIS will be better than ice cream.

Recipe by Kathy Smart

  INGREDIENTS
3 ripe, frozen bananas (The darker the banana, the sweeter it is! My dad told me the dark spots were little spots of brown sugar. Dad is ALWAYS right!)
1 cup of frozen strawberries
3 Tablespoons of cashew milk

DIRECTIONS
Add all of the above in a food processor or blender and puree.
